Vodafone’s Chief Technology Officer Benoit Hanssen said “We know our customers had a less than perfect network experience today and we want them to know we’re sorry. We want to make good by offering them unlimited data access all weekend.”
According to a report by the Sydney Morning Herald, Between midnight and 3AM on Monday Morning, Vodafone customers consumed 590 terabytes of data which is double what Vodafone usually consume the weekend before.
NSW customers were the biggest downloaders followed by Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania..
“It was a record-breaking weekend for data usage,” Vodafone chief technology officer Benoit Hanssen said.

"We were confident that our network would offer solid download speeds even with much higher than usual data usage."
"This is primarily due to our [radio frequency] spectrum holdings and the way we’ve built our 4G network, which has been designed especially for mobile data services. Put simply, our ‘fat’ network pipes ensure our 4G 1800MHz spectrum band can be fully utilised to give our customers an optimal data experience."
As we reported yesterday that outage combined with the Optus outage affected 10 million Australians.
