Various forums and reports are saying the outage, which is still ongoing at the time of writing, is affecting customers across Western Australia, Northern Territory, South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.
Dodo, which bills itelf as "Australia's supplier of cheap ADSL broadband", hasn't given any reason or details on the outage aside from describing the problem as a “major technical issue”.
"We are aware of a major technical issue that is currently affecting a significant number of customer accounts," Dodo in a statement on its Facebook page that you can see here.
"This is our highest priority and our technical support team are currently working hard to resolve this service outage."
Dodo, which is no stranger to controversy, said users would have the most luck getting through for support via live chat on its website.

"We appreciate your patience while we try to manage the heavy traffic on Live Chat at this time. Otherwise we will make sure to answer your queries on Facebook as well," Dodo said.
"Regular updates will be shared via our Facebook and Twitter profiles as we work towards resolving this issue.
"Please accept our sincerest apologies for this inconvenience. We thank you for your understanding."
Facebook user Tony Mayer wasn't happy with that response, writing "I love the fact that dodo said you can contact them on live chat through their website yet how the hell do we do that when we have no Internet connection idiots"
Meanwhile users across the country, who are obviously using their tethered phone connections or some form of other Internet connection, have taken to the Dodo Aussie Outages page (screenshot below) to report their issues.
And 'Adrian. G', a Dodo representative, took to Internet forum Whirlpool but didn't provide much more information.
"We are currently experiencing a period of intermittent slow network access and no authentication issues," Adrian wrote.
"We are aware of the problem and are working to restore this as soon as possible.
"The outage is also affecting our call queues and it may not be possible to contact us on 133636 at this time.
"Please bear with us whilst we work to fix this issue.
"There is currently no ETR at this stage."
Dodo itself is a virtual Internet service provider, meaning instead of owning its own infrastructure it utilises the wholesale networks of Telstra, Optus and Eftel.
