Free international calls for Vodafone customers Featured

By

From the 'it's our birthday so you get the presents' department: Vodafone is offering free international calls to selected destinations this weekend.

Vodafone has been providing mobile services in Australia for 21 years, and the company is marking the event by offering its customers free international calls to 10 countries this weekend.

From 00:01 (AEDT) on Saturday 18 October to 23:59 on Sunday 19 October, calls to landlines or mobiles in China, India, USA, UK, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and South Korea will be free.

That even applies to prepaid plans that don't include international calls, and to prepaid users who have run out of credit as long as the recharge hasn't expired.

Company officials said there is no limit to the number or length of the calls customers can make, but the 'fair use policy' applies, so check the fine print here.

What Vodafone seems most concerned about is customers letting their non-Vodafone-using friends and family to make free calls this weekend.

"On behalf of Vodafone, I would like to thank our customers for their loyalty. We have many customers who have been with us for the majority of our 21 years in Australia," said CEO Iñaki Berroeta.

"Australia is a multicultural place, and around 40% of Vodafone's customers were born overseas. Because so many of us have friends and family living and travelling overseas, we thought this was a great way to celebrate by doing what Vodafone does best - connecting people."
