Telstra doubles down on tempting tablets

By

Telstra is doubling up its range of tablets in selected stores to make more sales, with Telstra typically characterising it as ‘offering customers more choice this gift-giving season’.

As a telco and a retailer, it should come as no surprise to see Telstra tapping into the tablet craze as hard as it possibly can this Christmas.

Of course Telstra sells the iPad Air 2, iPad Minis, Nokia’s Lumia tablet, Samsung Galaxy Tabs, Huaweis and plenty more, but it is introducing and promoting a range of non-iPad tablets in its latest media missive - all in an attempt to get you to think tablets and then think Telstra.

The new tablets it is tapping into include the brand new and Lollipop 5.0 powered $479 Nexus 9, Samsung’s top-end 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S at $599 for the WI-Fi version and $720 for the 4GX-enabled version, the waterproof and dustproof Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact at $499, an Android-powered HP 8 for $199, Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite at $174 and the inexpensive, $99 Android-powered Alcatel Pixi 7.

Telstra’s voracious tableteer, Andy Volard, who is also its dominant Director of Devices, unsurprisingly stated that: “Interest in tablets continues to increase year on year. We’re seeing Australians moving from single tablet homes to multi tablet homes. And that’s because we increasingly view tablets as a personal rather than a shared screen.

It’s also because Telstra sees a prime opportunity to steal sales from its many and varied competitors, all vying for Christmas profits, as well as wanting to sign up as many customers to Telstra’s network as possible.

You’ll find all these tablets and more in the following Telstra stores (or online) across Australia at:

VIC:
Chadstone, Doncaster, Eastland, Frankston, Geelong, Highpoint, Southland

NSW:
Bondi Junction, Liverpool, Macquarie Centre, Miranda, Elizabeth St, Top Ryde, Warringah Mall.

TAS:
Hobart

WA:
Perth Hay St, Carousel, Karrinyup, Morley,

QLD:
Sunshine Plaza, Toowoomba, Pacific Fair, Mt Gravatt, Loganholme, Indooroopilly

Telstra’s planning for more stores to get the new tablets, too, from December 9 at these stores:

VIC:
Geelong CBD, Greensborough

NSW:
Broadway, Charlestown

WA:
Rockingham

QLD:
Cairns Central, Robina, Clarindale

ACT:
Canberra

SA:
