Western Sydney NBN cutover starts soon

By

Parts of western Sydney were connected to the NBN a while ago, and so it's nearly time for other landline phone and internet connections to be decommissioned.

Residents and businesses in parts of Penrith have less than six weeks to order NBN services to replace their existing landline phone and internet connections, as the cutover is scheduled for 20 February.

Those in parts of Blacktown, Homebush and Riverstone have a little more time, as the cutover is scheduled for 20 March, but it makes sense to make the necessary arrangements sooner rather than later in order to minimise any outages.

This is especially true for users of certain types of equipment. NBN Co spokesperson Darren Rudd said “We are particularly urging people with special equipment including EFTPOS terminals and medical and security alarms which operate using a landline phone connection to contact their preferred phone company and internet service provider as soon as possible.”

The switch-off date for the old networks in parts of Richmond/Windsor and Lidcombe is 17 April.

Approximately 21,700 premises in western Sydney are affected by the cutover.

More information is available from NBN Co's website here and here.
