iiNet flicks broadband quotas with quota-free Netflix

By

iiNet meets Netflix to flick off pesky broadband usage quotas from day one of Netflix’s Australia/NZ launch on 24 March 2015.

iiNet’s customers, across its iiNet, Internode, Westnet and Adam brands, is flicking away broadband usage worries for its customers who are subscribers to the Netflix TV show and movie streaming service with the very quotable and nowadays quotidian expectation of ’quota-free’.

As reported earlier today on iTWire, iiNet is offering quota-free Netflix for its broadband, Naked DSL, NBN and iiNet TV with Fetch customers, who will have access to as much Netflix content as they like, without it counting against their monthly quota.

The only quotable catch is that this excludes all of iiNet’s ‘Satellite, NBN Wireless, Mobile Voice, Mobile Broadband and all Business customers,’ which is understandable.

In addition, iiNet says at its Netflix page https://www.iinet.com.au/netflix that this is for ‘Netflix Australia content only’, ensuring it isn’t providing quota-free access to those US Netflix customers accessing US content via a VPN.

Unsurprisingly, iiNet’s Chief Executive Officer David Buckingham said the introduction of Netflix to the Australian market will be a game changer, stating “We couldn’t be happier about Netflix launching in Australia.

“It opens up a whole world of affordable entertainment options for our customers and we’re adamant about ensuring the content is easily accessible to as many people as possible.

“In addition to our partnership with Fetch TV, Netflix significantly strengthens our entertainment offering and we expect it to be an extremely popular option for all those avid television and movie fans out there.

Paul Perryman, Netflix’s Director of Business Development, said the iiNet partnership will play an important role in the launch of the Netflix service Down Under, stating: “Working with iiNet to offer quota-free Netflix content gives more people the opportunity to familiarise themselves with who we are and what our service offers.

“We’re confident that Australian audiences will love Netflix and we’re looking forward to shaking things up in the local subscription TV market.”
