In for a Penny, in for a pound of Sheldon, Leonard, Howard and Rajesh big banging their way to Presto’s service in series one to series seven, and it arrives on Presto from December 1, 2015.
Of course, Channel 9 used to have episodes of the Big Bang Theory on high rotation, not quite as much as Channel 10 did for The Simpsons, but this only means that more people know and love their favourite episodes.
Channel 9 kept the latest series for itself, letting Channel 7 and now Presto get access to the earlier episodes, with Presto the exclusive SVOD (subscription video on demand_ home to The Big Bang Theory, with Presto TV and Presto Entertainment subscribers able to stream on-demand episodes from the first seven seasons of the hit series.
The eighth season will be added in 2016.
Shaun James, who clearly made such a big bang as interim Presto CEO that he was made permanent Presto CEO, said, “The Big Bang Theory is an iconic comedy that has kept us in stitches for nearly a decade. We’re thrilled to be bringing the first seven seasons of this hilarious program that attempts to educate as it entertains while tickling our funny bones with the uniquely ‘humerus’ side of science.”
Of course, the Big Bang Theory isn’t the only comedy on Presto that people at home - or commuters who are communtertaining themselves in transit - are enjoying. Other must-watch shows available include Modern Family, Veep, Parks and Recreation, Louie, Flight of the Conchords and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
But what of this new-fangled clever new mashed-up term, ‘Commutertainment’?
Presto says it has seen a well-defined surge in usage trends taking place during both the morning and evening weekday commutes for customers viewing their favourite Presto programming via mobile networks.
The article continues and concludes after the ad below, please read on!

Viewing of Presto across mobile networks begins to rise around 6:00am, peaking at 7:00am before tapering off as the work day begins. The evening time peaks between 5:00pm and 6:00pm then slows around dinner time before increasing to spike at 9:00pm during ‘normal’ viewing hours, where it more closely matches viewing via fixed internet access.
Shaun James, the aforementioned and bangin’ Presto TV CEO, said, “From the data we are seeing, it’s clear our customers are extremely comfortable using their mobile devices to access Presto to continue watching their favourite TV shows and movies.
“The prominent peaks of usage at the start and end of the traditional work day are definitely pointing to a trend in ‘commutertainment’ where people are taking their streamed entertainment with them in greater and greater numbers.
“It’s proving the point that people want to take Presto with them and continue watching the shows and movies they may have started streaming in the home on more traditional broadband networks.
“Whether its dramas like The Walking Dead, Mr. Robot or Wentworth; or comedies like Entourage, Modern Family and Parks and Recreation, we are seeing Presto customers consuming a diverse range of content outside of the home using mobile network plans.”
There's also Matilda Brown's new 10-part short-form series named 'Let's Talk About', which is where I first heard the term Commutertainment being used, and where I first use the term in an article - which was a review of Brown's rather excellent series - exclusively now airing on Presto - which you can read all about here.
For those who haven’t yet tried Presto (as yet!) there’s a one-month free trial of the Presto Entertainment bundle which gives you access to Presto’s full TV and movie libraries, both of which are clearly seeing continued and on-going additions, making them ever bigger and better.
