The company's general manager for North West Victoria, Luke Dietz, said in a statement: "The site will not only improve coverage for those in Jackass Flat, but also provide new and improved coverage for those residents in Canterbury Estate and the new Evergreen Waters Estate.
“Optus remains committed to providing fast and reliable mobile and internet coverage across Bendigo."
Dietz said Opus had invested $1.95 million in the Bendigo region, with three new towers being switched on at Taradale and Heathcote Central, apart from the one at Jackass Flat.

Local Optus franchisee Cameron Mactier said the completion of the new tower would offer improved mobile coverage and also real choice and competition for residents.
“Optus is continuing to invest in its mobile network across the Bendigo region and as the local franchisee here in Bendigo, it’s great to know our customers are continuing to see an improving Optus network,” said Mactier.
“If anyone is looking for a new mobile phone plan or an awesome value broadband Internet, home phone or TV entertainment package, make sure to come down to Yes Optus at Bendigo Marketplace and have a chat to the team.”
