Knox, who will take up his post on 6 February, joins NBN Co with more than 30 years of financial experience, most recently as chief financial officer at APN Outdoor.
Knox also held CFO roles at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Austar and, from his time at Austar, has extensive experience in delivering telecommunications services across regional and remote Australia.
NBN Co chief executive Stephen Rue said Knox was joining at the same time that nearly three in four Australians could now connect to the NBN network.

“Phil has an outstanding track record of delivery and hands-on experience across key financial disciplines that will be critical in the final two years of the rollout.”
“I have keenly watched the rollout of the NBN access network over the years and during that time been impressed at the scale and achievements of the company. I’m excited to join NBN Co and play my role in helping to enable Australia’s digital future,” said Knox.
NBN Co said Knox’s appointment followed an extensive global recruitment process undertaken by an executive search firm following Rue’s appointment as chief executive in August 2018.
