South Melbourne-based NBN provider Tangerine Telecom is claiming to offer the cheapest 100/40 plan, offering a price of $69.90 for the first six months. The ISP has now said that this plan includes unlimited data.

After that the price for the Tangerine XXL Speed Boost plan goes up to $79.90 with unlimited data and a 14-day trial.

In a statement, Tangerine claimed that prices for similar plans ranged from $79 to $100, with most ISPs charging between $89 and $100.

Tangerine Telecom chief executive Andrew Branson said: “The 100/40 plan started off in the industry at $99 per month, now the fastest possible Internet service is only $69.90, which makes it more affordable for the average Australian household.

“We are seeing many new customers who have educated themselves on the various providers and choose Tangerine for the speed we deliver - especially in the evening.”

Tangerine has a wholesale relationship with Vocus Communications which has connections to all 121 NBN points of interconnect.

Earlier this month, the company claimed it was the first to offer discounted new development fees for NBN connections.
