Singtel Optus has switched on a new mobile tower in Wharparilla as part of the Victorian Government's Mobile Black Spot Project,

The tower is located on an existing NBN Co site on Mount Terrick Road and will improve the mobile reception to more than 300 residents of Wharparilla and its surrounding areas.

Optus Mobile Access planning manager Vin Mullins said, “It’s fantastic to be able to deliver dedicated Optus mobile coverage to the Wharparilla community for the first time, enabling residents to stay connected with their friends and family through reliable voice and data access.

“The tower will provide dedicated 4G and 3G coverage to the farming districts of Wharparilla and across the Shire of Campaspe, including south of the Murray Valley Highway and south west of both Echuca and Kotta.”

“We understand the importance for residents in these areas to experience reliable mobile reception when travelling across the region, and this new tower takes us one step closer to providing this coverage.

“Optus is pleased to be partnering with the Victorian Government, working to identify key mobile black spots across regional Victoria and bringing dedicated mobile coverage to these towns for the first time.”
