Broadband retail service provider Aussie Broadband has opened a new office in Lynbrook in the outer South East of Melbourne, with one of the company's customers officially opening the office at a ceremony on Wednesday.

Lynbrook has become the company’s fifth office, joining other locations in Darwin, Warrnambool and two in Morwell, including the head office, and the official opening was performed by customer Cassie Lindsay and daughter Evie.

Managing director Phil Britt, who co-founded Aussie Broadband, said that the company has experienced rapid growth and is looking forward to attracting new talent.

“We’ve grown from 60 to close to 300 staff and we’re adding around 10,000 new customers a month,” he said.

Aussie Broadband says the new Lynbrook office is expected to bring 150 jobs to the area, including customer support roles, communications and HR.

Phil Britt spoke about how the company’s strong values impact the way it does business.

“What we’re really interested in is changing the game. We’ve already changed the telco game in numerous ways– such as going national when many said it couldn’t be done and publishing our daily bandwidth graphs,” he said.

“We’re promoting inclusion and diversity in tech, and we’re keen to demonstrate how businesses can impact their communities for the better. Half our leadership team are Scout leaders in their spare time, and community is important to us. What you see here today, at Lynbrook, is another part of our game.”

Britt said the company is looking forward to building a larger presence in Lynbrook. “When it became difficult to recruit enough customer service staff in the Latrobe Valley, we knew we needed another call centre location. But rather than opting for a shiny new office somewhere in the central city, we’ve gone for a practical space here in the outer south-east of Melbourne.”
