Optus says the tower, located along Denham Street in Port Macuarie, will enhance in-building coverage around Settlement City Shopping Centre and along Hastings River Drive, “whilst also easing the load on other sites in the area to take customers’ existing experience to the next level”.
Optus says that as part of its investment in Port Macquarie, another two sites are expected to be delivered before the end of the year, representing an investment of $1.9 million. These sites include one at Lakewood as well as a new site enhancing mobile coverage along the Oxley highway between the hospital and Pacific Motorway interchange.
Optus Territory General Manager for Mid North Coast NSW, Chris Simon said, “We are continuously looking to increase Optus’ network coverage footprint outside metropolitan areas and offer real choice and value for residents, with the new site in Port Macquarie being central to this commitment.”

“We are thrilled to be improving coverage across Port Macquarie, ensuring even stronger mobile coverage and data access for those working, living and travelling through the area.
“Considering the easing restrictions around domestic travel in parts of the country as well as with the weather starting to warm up, we know more people will be enjoying this beautiful coastal town. Customers will be pleased to know that thanks to this new site, they can now capture and share their adventures even faster.”
Simon says the improved coverage will also assist local hospitality outlets as the region moves into the business summer trading period.
Flower Hotels Managing Director, Alistair Flower welcomed the new mobile tower site, across the road from the Settlers Inn.
“We welcome the improved Optus coverage in Port Macquarie as it benefits us in a range of ways. Not only does it mean better coverage for the patrons of the hotel, but it also means families, sporting teams and those visiting our beautiful region can stay connected and upload their amazing memories to social media.”
“We’re obviously thrilled to see major investments in our region from major companies,” said Port Macquarie Chamber of Commerce Executive Officer, Mark Wilson.
“Optus clearly has faith that their investments in our growing area are well warranted, and we look forward to their continued efforts.
“Investments like these will improve existing local Businesses communications performance and be a major attraction for other business entities considering a move to our centre.”
