Damian Ivereigh, the chief executive of the small Launceston-based Launtel, was initially writing a blog, with regular posts that tried to make sense of what the NBN was all about and what the various initiatives made by the NBN Co meant.
Recently, he diversified into videos which he posts on a YouTube channel. The videos are not fancy and mirror the fact that Ivereigh is a down-to-earth character. The only difference between him and the average Joe is that he understands technology very well.
Ivereigh has one difference from other ISPs; he has the a number of customers with gigabit connections over the NBN. Tasmania was one of the first areas where the broadband network was rolled out and thus has a fair number of residents who have what is only a dream for most Australians: fibre-to-the-home. This means those who are willing to pay a bit more can get a gigabit connection.

"I wanted to make it very conversational and less formal," he told iTWire. "I am now using a smove stabiliser along with just my Nexus 5X phone! I don't edit the videos, preferring to simply do it on a single take.
"It started off as a way to answer specific questions. I will continue to do that, but I notice I have moved on to some of the bigger issues."
He said this did not mean he would stop writing about NBN issues on his blog. "I don't think I want to swap between blogs and videos, [it's] more [the case that] there are some people that prefer the written word (I know I do), but others who like to watch videos. I will continue to blog, but I realise I have been a bit slow on these for a while," he said.
Ivereigh welcomes questions from readers which he says can be posted under any of the videos that are on his channel. [His latest video is embedded above.]
