Optus boosts coverage in three new areas

By

Telecommunications company Optus has switched on new towers in Hill River South, Dongolocking North, and in Cunderdin North as part of the Australian Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program.

In Hill River South, the site will provide mobile coverage to over 40 local premises, with 400 square kilometres covered and over 63 kilometres of major roads including sections of Munbinea Road, Optus said in a statement.

In Dongolocking North, the site will provide coverage to 45 local premises with over 400 square kilometres covered including over 200 kilometres of roads.

In Cunderdin North, the site will provide coverage to over 100 local premises with over 800 square kilometres covered including 52 kilometres or roads including sections of Matthew and Cunderdin-Wyalkatchem Roads.

“We’re proud to be offering our customers much-needed access to our 4G service. This tower will provide our customers with greater communication while living in, working in, and driving through the region," Optus vice president of networks Lambo Kanagaratnam said in a statement.

Kanagaratnam said the coverage in three areas will “allow competition and choice for local businesses and residents when it comes time to choose a network provider.”

“It is part of our commitment to giving our customers and the community access to reliable mobile coverage and high-quality internet.”
